As a Project Engineer, you will participate in the full development cycle of innovative programs creating new advanced optical systems, starting from concept and requirements definition all the way to commissioning an operational product at the customer site. Working with our outstanding team of optical, mechanical, and software engineers, as well as our senior scientific staff, you will provide the engineering leadership that delivers success to our customers.

Essential Job Functions

Optical system design to component selection level using Zemax or other professional tools

System requirements development including SRR and KPP definition and tracking

Write reports, design documentation, CONOPs and prepare customer and internal briefings

Assist with selecting and preparing new proposals

Deal directly with customers including briefings, presentations, meetings and conferences
Requirements

BSc optical engineering, MSc preferred
-
5+ years of documented optical engineering experience
-
Demonstrated experience in optical system design and layout with Zemax
-
Experience with lab assembly and alignment of complex optical systems is required and deployment of optical systems to customer facilities is highly desirable
-
Experience in creating and/or leading a production facility is highly desired
-
US Citizenship is required
-
Able to travel for deployments
-
Project management experience highly desirable
-
Active US security clearance is highly desirable

This is a hybrid position that includes not only opto-mechanics assembly but also some electronics assembly. Working with our outstanding team of optical, mechanical, and software engineers, as well as our senior scientific staff, you will provide the hands-on assembly support that delivers success to our customers.

Requirements and Essential Job Functions

ASc in opto-mechanics and/or electronics technology preferred but not required

5 years experience assembling and aligning moderately complex optical systems and components is highly preferred

Able to read and understand blue prints, schematics and layouts
-
Some electronics wiring and cabling experience and ability to help build custom electronic chassis is very desirable. That work includes:
- Building connectors
- PCB soldering
- Wiring routing

Experience with KIcad and/or experience with pcb layout a plus

Keen interest in optics and electronics
-
Ability to work independently
-
Good organizational and communication skills
-
Inventory tracking experience a plus
-
Ability to travel for instrument deployments required

As an Administrative Associate and working with the Business Manager, you will contribute to the Management Team by applying your data entry skills to our accounting, procurement and inventory tracking systems. Personnel onboarding, PTO tracking and learning our purchasing, accounts payable and accounts receivable data entry are all duties of this position.
